International Wood Culture Society Announces Photography Contest Offering $16,900 in Prizes

Newport Beach, CA – The International Wood Culture Society is pleased to announce a free photography contest with $16,900 in prize money to be awarded to a total of 31 winners. The contest, which is being hosted by VOUBS, is being held in honor of World Wood Day. The winning photographer and runner-ups will be invited to participate in the 2018 World Wood Day Event Exhibition which takes place at Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia from March 20th to March 25th.

Registration and participation in the “Wood and Life” photography contest is free. There are three main categories: People, Heritage, and Environment. The best performing photographer of all three categories will be awarded the Grand Prize of $2,500 and will be announced as the Wood and Life Photographer of the Year. Each category also has a first prize of $1,800, and 30 Honorable Mentions will win cash prizes of $300.

“This is such an exciting event,” comments IWCS Coordinator & Planning Executive Jackie Feng. “We’ve already received some truly stunning photos, but we’re hoping for many more. What better way to remind the world of the beauty and value of one of our greatest resources…wood!”

Participants are invited to send in artistic shots related to wood in their daily lives, surroundings and culture. Judges will be looking for photographs that “best present the interrelationship between wood and culture in the three given categories: People, Heritage, and Environment.”
